hair today gone tomorrow

Today has been a very emotional day for me as a mummy, i have seen my toddler go from looking baby faced and cute to looking all grown up.... and still cute. i know hes growing up and i know i cant keep him a baby forever, i just wish the time wouldnt  go so quickly, i feel like i cant keep up.

it all started a few weeks ago when i notice little dudes hair was getting too thick and he was getting too warm with it. since he was 13moths old he has had thick curly hair and as it grews i just got it trimmed but with him getting more and more active i thought it was time to get his haircut shorter. after a long coversation with daddy peacock we decided we would look into a hair cuts that would keep his signature curl but be a bit more practical.  so one sunday morning on my day off work and daddy peacock was in work i started googling hair cuts ready to take little dude on the tuesday. during my ssearch i came across a you tube video of how to do it myself so i sat little dude down on the floor on the bathroom, covered him with a towel and set to work, follwing the directions from the video. little dude was so good sitting still and listening to me as i directed his head position. the end result looked good apart from a very short fringe.

2 weeks after the first time i cut little dudes hair i noticed it was getting bulky at the back so i turned back to  my trusty you tube video for more direction and set to work chopping more of little dudes hair off this time going shorter. i have to admit,it looked good even when brushed the only problem was i thought i could do better so the next night i went shorter and ended up at a point of no return and a child with an uneven hair cut.

for the past week i have been looking at his uneven hair debating weather to take him for a proper hair cut or just let this dodgy hair cut grow out, daddy peacock wanted to leave it and let it grow where i just sat on the fence. i was regretting ever touching his hair remembering what i said to daddy peacock when little dude had first arrived in the world and thta was to never let me give him a home hair cut.....hence why i did it while daddy peacock was in work.

this morning while we were decididing what to do for our family day off, daddy peacock mentioned he needed to nip for a hair cut so we came up with the plan that we would take little dude for one too and as a reward go swimming afterwards. sat in morrsion cafe having breafast we discused how we would get little dudes hair cut even getting his input which was to snip snip snip it. so off we went to the barbers daddy peacock went first than little dudes went in the chair next to him. i asked the barber for just a trim but i think because of my dodgy home cut a trim turned into a corrective hair cut he was just to polite to say. before my eyes my floppy haired baby turned into a proper grown up little boy with a propper little boys hair cut. i thanked the barber and left the salon. once back in the car i couldnt hold back and i poured my eyes out. every time i looked back at my little dude i just could control myself. daddy peacock gave me a big hug and kept telling me he looks good but that wasnt why i was crying. while little dude had all his curls he still looked babyish whith them all gone he looked grown up and i felt like he was growing up too fast and the years were going far too quickly.

despite all the tears i love his new hair cut and so does he. every time we show him he gets excited and tells us all about the barbers experience. even in the short time he has had his grown up hair we have notced lots of benefits. after swimming his hair was dry extra quick and in a ruley matter were as usually its still wet when were home an than dries all wirey.

i know my baby has to grow up sometime and i know he will always be my baby its just it scares me every time we leave a baby related thing and enter a more grown up stage. the next step is potty training and turning his babyish room into a big boy room. when your first expecting your baby you for some reason think the baby stage goes on forever and you dont mentally prepare yourself for any of the big boy stuff past walking. i know today was only a hair cut but as a mother it symbolises him getting older and no longer being that sweet little baba in my arms and is now a beautiful and intelligent little boy who you can have mini conversations with and can tell you exactily what he likes and doesnt like. he still looks super cute and i still have many years before hes leaving the nest, i just hope the years slow down as the past 2 years was zoomed past.

Finally getting somewhere

Lately people have started to notice my weight loss which I have to admit i love and find it a huge motivation when people praise me for how well I'm looking.

I've not lost a huge amount nor have I dropped loads of dress sizes but people are noticing and i feel good. I've lost 21lb up to now and my journey to be and a yummy mummy is far from over, every little helps.

I've upped my water intake and started using an app that records my fluid intake which helps me stay on track with that. If I'm honest I've not noticed all the differences that I'm supposed to the only absence is the bloating has gone I use to get from diet coke.

The other thing that's helping me stay on track is mine and hubby's bet to stop being wasteful, we have stopped all take aways including getting lunch while we at work. This has worked because we also not buying many snacks and there's no late night snack runs either.

I've been exercising more too due to the nice weather we've been having I've been taking advantage of the beautiful park we live near and going for power walks round the lake. I've been really enjoying this time and so has the dog. Its not making much impact on my weight as yet but its getting my some fresh air. I also sorted out back garden out after our bad winter and that was a job an a half due to living at the back of a vally, my whole body ached when I had finished which should have done me some good.

I've also been setting myself little challenges for example the 777 challenge where you eat speed foods, only have 7 syns and drink at least 7 glasses of water for 7 days. I've done the healthy extra b challenge where you try different b choices over 7 day. I find doing challenges like this stops me from getting bored and keeps food optimising fresh and fun.

looking at it over the last few week its definitely something that fits in with me and my young family. It promotes healthy eating without cutting anything out and I think it shows a good example to my son. its a balanced diet without going from one extreme to the other like a lot of diets that are "fashionable" at the moment. As a mother to a young and impressionable children I think its import for me to show this and I think slimming world helps me do just that and I don't say diet in front of Him, We all eat the same thing, I fill hubby and toddlers plate with 1/3 veg or salad and give fruit as snacks instead of pre packed foods just what I do for myself.

I think now I'm on the right track and I have changed how I look at food optimising the worlds my oyster, yeah I'm going to have the odd binge, yes I'm going to have weeks i gain but he main thing is I have slimming world there to help me the right way. When me and my husband decided to add to our family I will definitely be getting my midwife to sign me the forms to let me continue as I know it will be safe and healthy for me and the baby while controlling my weight , something I wish i had done in my first pregnancy.

The 777 challenge

To give myself a kick up the bum with my journey to be a yummy mummy I have decided to do the 777 challenge, I'm not sure if it is an actual challenge that slimming world promote but I've seen it on lots off forums. I don't know if it even boast your losses, I'm doing it to refocus myself on the plan.

The challenge is simple for 7 days I have
7 syns a day
7 super speed/speed foods a day
7 glasses of water

If I plan ahead all should be fine..... Wish me luck

Waste,waste, waste!

This month me and daddy peacock have been forced to look at our finances, this was due to our car breaking down unexpectedly over Easter. The hefty repair cost has left us short in our disposable income account this the the money that isn't promised to bills or savings. with being short we were baffled why. We sat down and calculated all our bills and expensive and what was left at the end did not add up to what we had.....we had to look deeper and was shocked when we did.

Each week I do a weekly food and household shop online, i spend between £40-£80 depending on what we need.
With a toddler the price of nappies etc can hoist up the cost but we do buy in bulk and when there are offers on so we save in the long run. The main bulk of our shop is fresh fruit, meats and vegetables in keeping with my slimming world food optimising.

All sounds good so far......

While we were looking at our finances our asda delivery came, as I was putting it away I was throwing all the things that had gone off or wasn't enable anymore. 30 minuets later I was carrying 3 carrier bags full to the bin of all our waste. That set alarm bells ringing. i worked out how much food we had put in the bin by putting it in to the asda app, it worked out at around £30 worth off food give or take if we had used some. I was mortified.

How did this happen????

Take aways!! we worked out that over the 2 weeks previous we had, had a lot of take aways and worked out that we spent around £159 that's including buying ready made sandwiches on days out and eating at local restaurants. Though this doesn't include buying lunches when at work which probably amounts to £5 a day each and than there's the odd bits we pick up In terms of fizzy drinks and snacks etc..... It was ridiculous. So the food we bought in our weekly shop wasn't getting used.

Enough was enough all that waste and only thing to show for it was expanding waistlines. We were waisting food because we were being lazy, using the excuses that we were to tired to cook. I can't help bit think of all the things the thing that money could have been used for if were were just going to waste it. I am ashamed if us.

Things have to change!

The peacock family plan of action!
We want to change this behaviour for the better but to do that we have to go back to basic. for the next 3 months we are literally going back to what basic means to us.
•no take aways
•no fizzy drinks
• no buying lunch at work-all food must be prepared at home using food from home
•weekly shopping only to enter the house .
•no snacks or goodies to be bought unless In the weekly shop
• meals must be planned for minimum waste I.e make In bulk use item in more than 1 meal.
• learn to plan cooking around life obstacles- if you know a hectic day is coming pre plan and cook it a day early or cook on a less hectic day and freeze to make life easier.

So far we are nearly 7 days into it and I have to say I actually feel better, all food is home cooked healthy meals, no fizzy drinks and I've upped my water intake and I haven't spent a penny this week
Only on bus fairs. The healthy eating has made me feel so good I actual went out for a power walk and enjoyed it and I am sticking to slimming world too.

I can't not believe this is how we have behaved it not good for us and its setting a bad example for our son. This weekend were off as a family normally we would eat out but instead a nice walk somewhere to get some fresh air with a homemade picnic to eat either while we're out or in the car depending on the weather and a nice home Cooked tea to looked forward to when we get home.

What a diffrence a year makes

A year ago I was in such a dark place, I hated my life, I hated the world and I just wanted to disappear, I just didn't want to exist anymore. I was suffering from depression.

I thought I was being silly and selfish, I had everything I could wish for an amazing loving husband, a healthy beautiful baby boy and supportive family not to mention material things that were "supposed" to make you happy. I thought I just needed to give my head a wobble , I thought about what others thought of me of how stupid I was being crying all the time, staring into space, shutting out the world including my beautiful family.

Eventually it took people who were not so close to me to tell me I needed help, I thought I was hiding it so well, I thought it was only me who could see. It was that shock that made me realise I needed to go and get help. Before I did I spoke to my amazing husband he could see I needed help but didn't know how to tell me. Another huge push to get me to go and seek help.

In the doctors I wanted to stay strong but as soon as I looked at her I cried and cried telling her how pathetic I was being, telling her im so selfish. The emotions just poured out of me and I have to say it was a relief to say my thoughts out loud.

The doctor put things in perspective for me explaining exactly what depression is. It was NOT my fault I had it, it wouldn't just disappear if I gave my head a wobble and I wouldn't be suddenly cured if I simply got a grip. These are all the expression I've heard associated with depression and to be honest all I really knew..... No wonder I was so hard on myself if this was all the knowledge I had and many others too.

After medication and support I finally started being me again, I lost me for a long time it was hard, it was a struggle but I got though it and i have I say I am proud of myself. I've had to re educate myself on depression and others round me too. There is such a taboo about depression and I think that is part of the battle for people suffering because they don't know if they are, what to do and like me think there selfish and need to give there head a wobble simply because we are not knowledgable enough and people just put it down to being a bit down. I have had to teach my self the difference between feeling depressed and just being a bit down, there is a huge difference and I'm lucky enough to be able to help and manage these feelings now.

a year on and I can say the dark clouds have definitely lifted, I'm enjoying being a mummy again, a wife again and I can see the bright days ahead. I'm attempting to lose weight and exercise to which I'm just doing the Hokey Cokey with but hey that's
Fine because I'm happy. I'm enjoying all the things I loved before reading, doing my hair, make up and nails. going for long walks with my little family and planning ahead for the future. All things I stopped doing while suffering with depression. I just wanted to sleep or sit on the sofa and not move or be bothered.

Blogging has been a huge part of my journey, I wanted to get my story and opinions of depression out there. I wanted to make people more aware and change the way it is perceive especially as I was guilty of thinking it was self induced and not an actual illness like it is. I am also happy that my blog has actually helped people after reading my journey they realised they were suffering too and took steps in getting help. Its even more amazing that like me they have reached the other side and have even guessed blogged about there journey.

Depression is hard as it is without small minded and unknowable people passing judgement. I was lucky mine was only mild compared to others. the doctor put it in perspective for me and my depression as it was linked to my post natal depression she said you wouldn't blame a person suffering with diabetes for not producing enough insulin so why would you blame a person suffering with depression for not producing enough
"Happy hormones". This has always stuck with my and when I hear people dismissing depression I always tell them this........ It certainly makes them think!!!!

Excuses, excuses EXCUSES!!!!

I have not wrote a blog for a long time this is due to my epic fail of not being able to complete my march fitness challenge and due to lack of time.

So here's my excuse for failing my march challenge.........

My amazing hubby has been working very hard these past few months in his new job, this has turned me to parenting and housekeeping alone. Due to this I have found an even greater respect for single parents out there because this last month has been tough. I get up at 5.30am Start my day and don't sit down till 9pm in between there's work, washing, cleaning, cooking bath times, bedtimes and food shopping. There has been no time what's so ever for exercising I haven't even had the time to bath alone and have had to share my bath time with my toddler who loves to see how far he can get water out of the bath/ bathroom so with shampoo in my eyes Im constantly say no, taking toys away And having to hide my products behind me as he is the the phrase of copying mummy and daddy.

Any way that's the excuses for that epic fail out the way.....

Excuses seem to be the only thing standing between me and my mission to be a yummy mummy. Apart from that I am a total slimming world geek, I'm constantly looking for new recipes and having a nosey on Instagram when I'm on my way home from work or Sitting down to eat a meal u am totally obsessed with it yet I'm still not where I want to be. I only have me to blame. I k ow this wearing plan works, its a dream eating plan nothing's off limits..... What's my problem???????????

I think until I stop with the excuses
• when hubby work calms down ill Seattle back in
•when summer comes ill be more active and eat more salads
•one day off plan won't do any damage
•I just haven't got time
•bleugh

Until I stop these and just get on with it ill constantly be battling with myself.

If I can't find the time to actual exercise I need to get off the bus a few stops earlier and walk more, if hubby on dodgy shifts than I need to start batch cooking and freezing food and most of all I need to give my head a good wobble and kick my bum into gear.

Now lets go for an amazing loss this week.

#missionyummymummy day 6-9 march challenge

Well i have been quiet on the blog front dr a few days, this isn't because in not doing my challenge its just life has been very hectic this week and in order to fit in my challenges I've had to use my time more wisely and unfortunately blogging has took a back seat.

Daddy peacock is opening a new store with the company he works for so he been a busy bee so I've been working and single parenting for a few days as poor daddy peacock hasn't seen baby peacock since Monday due to his 17 hour days and I know they are missing one another. Especially on Friday when baby peacock asked me if he could have a daddy cuddle. It breaks my heart but its no forever.

Due to daddy working late me and baby peacock are getting home late and bedtime moved later and by the time story and milk times over I'm downstairs preparing and making tea for when daddy peacock comes home. This Is when I'm fitting in my 30 minuets challenge.

Now my exercise hasn't been adventurous but i am sticking to the rules. I have mainly been doing the 30 minuet free step on the wii. Mainly because its always still set up so I can put tea on and jump on the wii board. This weeks there more off the same ahead but I'm going to plan a bit better to fit my challenge in better and do more than just free step.

I am noticing a difference and it does make me good, I'm definitely going to see this through till the end and hopefully improve my fitness and up my game. This challenge is showing my no matter how busy you are you can fit something in, no matter how small and it still makes a diffrence.

#missionyummymummy march challenge day 4 and 5

Day 4 of my march challenge to do exercise everyday. I woke up really sore and achy from Zumba the day before and my arm will still heavy from all the tennis and boxing on day 2. I though it would be best to give my upper body a bit of a rest since I was in a lot of pain and don't want to give up my challenge before its really kicked in.

It was my little family's day off yesterday so we decided to go for a long adventure walk around Heaton park, I thought this would properly be the best way to exercise also giving my Upper body a rest. We definitely used our legs 3 hours in the park of constant walking and exploring looking out for different wildlife that lives in the park, chasing a 2 year old and finding our way around from getting lost in a park we go to more than 10 times a year, a park we got married in ha ha ha. I definitely got a good work out round the park and slept well afterwards too.

Day 5 of my challenge, since I became a football widow for the evening I didn't find it that difficult to fit my 30 minuets in. While tea was cooking in the oven I jumped on to the wii board and did 30 minuets of free steps while listing to my iPod. I had madonna imacuale collection on and I was well and truly getting into the groove ( sorry I couldn't help it) before I knew it 30 minuets was up and my challenge for the day was down and I got to avoid the football whoop lot of bonuses.

#missionyummymummy day 3 of challenge

Day 3 of my march challenge was one of my best diet days of the week so far. My sister in law was coming for tea so I decided to push the boat out and make a 3 course meal, slimming world friendly of course.

I already knew for main I was making a roast chicken Sunday lunch with lots of veg but starter and desert I'm was unsure off so looked at all the tools available to get some idea.

I decided on sweet potato and parsnip soup for starter - no bread roll, due to the starter not having any super free food in i made sure I had a lots of super free food in my main and for dessert I found a receipt for an 8 syn chocolate cake with white chocolate frosting. I decided to make into cupcakes making in only 3 syns and had it with lots of strawberries and raspberries.

The whole meal went down well exempt the cake my sister in law isn't very tactful and made her feeling very clear on the cake which obviously is a sort of substitute for the original but diet friendly - wen she was ranting on about how disgusting she thought it was i thought cheeky sod she could have lied and said she was full.

Anyway back to the exercise my plan was to do a DVD when baby peacock was napping but my plans went up in smoke when he decided to fall asleep while I was in the supermarket getting all the supplies for tea..... Nothing ever goes to plan when children are involved. So Due to my original plan being scrapped I had to think of another one so while hubby was driving my sister in law home I decide to do Zumba on the wii. Now I have never done Zumba in my life and have never even put the Zumba game on before so I had no idea what I was getting into.

After choosing the easy option I was all set to start..... Oh my days i have no rhythm, I struggled to keep up but kept moving all the same just maybe not like what I was supposed to be copying. I definitely got a sweat on and can see why its so good for you as it works your whole body I am very sore and achy this morning. I just hope practice makes perfect with the moves.

So day 3 of my march challenge.....

DONE!

Lets see what today brings.

#missionyummymummy march challenge day 2

Today I have found it the hardest to try and fit exercise in. I was in work all day and ended up staying behind late. my 2 year old got over excited that we were all home together so bedtime was eventful and to top it off I was absolutely shattered.

Do you know what???? I did it any way I just found another way.

me and hubby sat on the sofa after tea moaning there was nothing on the tele and I kept saying I need to complete my challenge we both decided to get on the wii and have a tennis match. This got us off our bums and onto our feet and moving.

After a few tennis matches to warm us up we got competitive and moved on to boxing. This is where we really got going. As the matches progressed we really started getting a sweat on and with every hit the more it spired us on. I can definitely say this was a good work out due to the fact my whole body ached once our second boxing match was over. We really went for it putting our whole body into trying to beat the other.

As a warm down we decided to each take the fitness test. I am 5 months older than daddy peacock so was pleased my fitness result age was lower than his.......

He got 84........ I got....68. We're both 28 so lots of work to be had there.

Over all after a few games of tennis and 2 games of boxing with 3 rounds in each one that took us way over 30 minuets and you know what I really enjoyed it. it was so much more fun than I would of had just sitting there moaning.... Which might I add is something 1. I Love doing and 2. Im very good at.

Some might think that this doesn't sound like exercise but the idea is to get me moving move which this definitely did. It gotta heart rate up and my body Woking hard which I do believe qualifies. Anything a got to be better than just sitting in my bum.

Tomorrow is my day off and I plan to do a fitness DVD during baby peacocks nap. I've dug out a rosemary Connelly DVD so lets see if my plan pans out.

Now to end the night a few slow and steady games of bowling. Since I lost every game me and daddy peacock played I'm hoping to win at least a game of bowling. Xxx

#missionyummymummy march challenge day 1 done!

Today marked the first day off my march challenge to do at least 30 minuets of exercise a day.

First day complete!

I took my little man swimming and with him holding on to my back I managed to get a few length in, which he loved until he wanted to try himself so i was back playing following the leader, it was a start. We also walked to the sports village and back but as I said in a previous blog I tend to do a lot of walking anyway.

The main part of my exercise was 30 minuets on the wii fit plus. I stepped, I hula hoop, I jogged, I cycled and I even did some maths all while having my iPod in listening to the dirty dancing sound track.

I did feel good on completion and looking forward to what the rest of the month brings. Zumba, fitness dvd, power walks....... We will see.

#missionyummymummy time to set myself a challenge

There is one huge thing lacking from my mission to become a yummy mummy and that's exercise. I'm always blogging, moaning and writing about how much I need to up my exercise in order to not only get get fit but help me lose weight to meet my mission.

I have quite an active life I work on my feet, I have an active 2 year old and I do lots of walking to get to places but because I've always done this I don't think it has any effect on me or my diet since my body is use to it now.

Due to the weather being so nice yesterday morning i had a spring in my step and was definitely in a happier mood. so when i left the house to walk to the bus stop I decided to do a bit of a power walk, holding my tummy in and standing taller I picked up the pace swinging my strong arms. I reached the bus stop which is usually a 20 minuet walk away in 15 minuets feeling really good ( the endorphins must have kicked in)

This got me thinking I only need to add a little bit of exercise a day to start me off so I have set myself a challenge......... For the whole of march I'm going to add some form of exercise to my day and document it in my blog, this will hopefully keep me on track and make me stick to it.

The rules

•I must do some form of exercise at least once a day for the month of march.

• every day activities and thing that I do already can not be classed as exercise for this challenge I.e hoovering the house etc

•the exercise must be 30 minuets or more.

•everyday must be documented on mummypeacock if I do or do not do the challenge for that day.

•no excuses

•no cheating

•try new things

•target to loose at least 10lb by the end of the challenge

•challenge runs from 1st march- 31st march.

I'm hoping that by doing this challenge it will not only give my fitness and weight loss a boost but also get me ready for the 30 day shred I have bought and have yet to take out the packet.

Well that's the rules and the challenge sorted now time to get started.

Wish me luck xxx

The futures bright for our little dude.

Baby peacock had a rocky start to life, I had to have an emergency section which involved me having to be put to sleep, Baby peacock had to be given a lot of oxygen to help him breath than when we though all the drama was over 9 hours after birth baby peacock had to be taken down to scbu because he was struggling to breath and was turning blue.

What should have been the most happiest time in our lives was the scariest at 9hours old we were told that baby peacock had, had a cardic arrest......there was a long pause before we were told he pulled though. We were all transferred to a specialist hospital where baby peacock or the best treatment and as quick as he got poorly he was getting better. After 13 days and a transfer back to the hospital baby peacock was born in we were allowed home not before we were told that this time baby peacock was being treated for suspected meningitis not just an infection we were lead to believe and it was the receptionist that informed us.

Since than baby peacock has had to have brain scans, lots of hearing test and specialist appointments. If he was ill I had to take him to a&e because normal doctors wouldn't see him while he was under one of the top specialist children's doctor. All the appointments where mainly because baby peacocks brain was starved of oxygen was so long they were worried he may have delayed development.

Well despite such a rocky start baby peacock has one from strength to streaky with his learning and development he was assessed at 2 and a half to 3 years at his 2 year assessment. He can count to 10 On his own and he can actually count how many items he has I.e 3 cars etc as long as it doesn't go past 10. His coming out with more words every days and putting more and more sentences together we can actually have mini conversations with him. He come such a long way and for every mile stone he approached he met them head on so all our worry was for no reason, he showed us.

On Friday baby peacock had his 6 monthly appointment with his specialist. Being the little star he is he shone bright during his appointment showing the dr how smart and sociable he is. Talking and singing, smiling and laughing. the doctor was so impressed he has finally discharged us from the hospital as he said baby peacock has developed better than he could imagine. This was the same doctor that was caring for baby peacock while he had his cardic arrest. He was there for the worst and now he seem how far he has come he was also proud of our little man. Due to his connection he gave us his number and said he would be more than happy to see baby peacock if we ever had any concerns he would be happy to help.

With this excellent news we celebrated by having KFC ( not good for mission yummy mummy but is a favourite of my boys ) and a trip to Heaton park. The weather may have been freezing but we wrapped up warm and had a good walk/ run about. We even got to feed the pigs who where aptly named Derek ad Rodney trotter. We fed them bananas with the permission of the farm keepers. It was lovely to hear Baby peacock tell daddy "pig eating nana with skin on". It was a lovely day.

This means now our little dude can be treated medically like any normal child, it means no more appointment to be Messed and prodded at. It's also a new chapter in his life. He has nothing to proof now he's a happy normal little boy who just had a rocky start to life.

#missionyummymummy cooking up a storm

Me and my little dude are on a day off today and I've decided we will be cooking up a slimming world storm in the kitchen. The reason for this is to help me keep on track, I'm always complaining life gets in the way of my mission to be a yummy mummy so I'm forward planning to overcome any problems I May invent to make this week go belly up.

Today I'm planing on making
•speed food soup
•sw cheese scones
• mushy pea curry
•Mexican Tex mex bean chilli
•2 syn mug cake

I'm hoping this will also free up some time for me to start exercising something I've
Been saying I'm going to do ever since I started this journey. Daddy peacocks working 3 days of 12 hours shift so once I've got baby peacock in bed i can do a bit on the wii as tea is already made.

I'm also become a bit obsessed with eating out at work mainly out of laziness which is not only costing me a fortune I'm also sabotaging my slimming world progress. I'm making a huge pan of super speed soup and slimming world scones today to not only keep me on track but also give my loss a boast. A bonus Is this soup will also ensure baby peacock gets lots of veg In his growing body too..... He loves his mummy's soups and sw scones.

As for the mug cake well that's a little treat for me and my little dude its only 2 syns and I've never made it before and have been dying to try it. I've go some frozen berries defrosting to so with it.

Since the sun is shining I think a nice walk to the park is also on the cards for us...... The sun always makes for a happy day

Things a parent dreads :- foul mouth toddler

I have decided to start a little project on my blog of thing a parent dreads as I have come to the conclusion that there are lots and I stole across them as baby peacock grows.

When I mentioned this to daddy peacock the first thing he said was " s#!£ in the bath"

This leads me Into the whole reason behind this post.

This Sunday evening while running baby peacocks bath I accidentally dropped the bubble bath bottle into the bath knowing h was listening i just said "oh no, silly mummy" which my little parrot repeat, he than decided to add his own which started of as mild as "oh gosh mummy" than we went to "oh god" and finally came the big almighty "oh s#!t" perfectly pronounced as clear as day. I was in complete shock but also had to leave the bathroom as I was trying not to laugh and show h any reaction for what he just said.

Why is it that when toddlers are learning to speak the words they say you don't want them to say like swearing they say it clearer than any other word they use including mummy and daddy?????

I seen more of the funny side to it as we were in out own home, had we been out with actually people about I would have been mortified. I don't condone or encourage my toddler swearing and have had to find word to replace my own foul language as it has become apparent baby peacock is growing up fast and picking up words and phrases and starting to use them In the correct situation. It has also become apparent we have slipped up and been caught out by our 2 year old.

Now we have to figure out how to handle it. As I said I left the room so to him I was ignoring it. Usually when he's trying out words ill praise and encourage him so I'm hoping he will forget he used it. I don't want to shout or make a big deal out of it a he is the kind of child that would use it to test you or to try and get a reaction so I'm hoping that it was just a one off . If not do I revert back to how my parent dealt with it and wash his mouth out with soap???

I dread this as a parent because I worry he may use it In public making It look like he comes from a rough home where his parents swear all the time it had become the norm, i worry he will teach It to another child and I'm worried it will get worse before it gets better. I want to teach h eventually that it is a naughty word but for now I want him to forget it exist while he learning to talk. I'm not sure how easy that will be I'm sure lots of trial and error involved and lots of biting lips from mummy and daddy.

My first thoughts of February @glossybox

I was looking forward to this months box due to it being February. i assumed like last year glossybox would do a special box to mark Valentines day. I was right, my products came wrapped in a beautiful pink box with a picture of a flower on. I do get excited when we have special boxes and I do keep them all and use them to store my ever growing collection of make up and beauty products. The box is definitely a bonus to the product and does help you get excited to open and see what surprises are In store.

Even though the box impressed me the products inside where a totally different matter. The first thing I noticed was a perfume sample I have had in my box a few times and am building up quite a collection of it now its Marciso Rodriguez for her. After reading the product list it says that this is an updated version???

My verdict.......

It is a beautiful soapy floral smell which is perfect for everyday wear as its not over powering. If I'm honest though it very much resembles the high street chain next own brand of perfume called just pink. At just £6.50 for 30ml its a fraction of the price. Natciso Rodriguez is at £23 for 30ml. Im very much someone who believe in you get what you pay for, this is the exception as I find that with this you are just paying for the name...... Ill stick with just pink, keeping my purse happy and smelling just as good.

The second product I came across was In horribly cheap and unappealing packaging. After further inspection I found it was a lipstick by Helen e cosmetic. My first though on this was anger as glossy box is all about luxury products an this is a product you associate with cheap shops like body care or quality save. To add insult to Injury the name of this lipstick is called Caribbean which does not fit this product at all. The colour looks cheap which I suppose goes with its name and reputation. Ill still be fair and give it a trial as that why I signed up to glossy box but I do not hold much hope.

After being annoyed by the lipstick I was excited to find mica bell cosmetics mineral blush powder. I'm into mineral make up at the moment an the colour that has come in my box is perfect for my skin tone. Not sure on the name of the colour as it reminds me of a 90s programme called changing rooms where they used this colour in pretty much every episode. The colour is called terra cotta. Who comes up with these names???? I am excited to try this product just wish the pot was bigger.

Another product I'm exited about is the mememe cosmetics fat cat lengthening mascara. I have the shortest and fairest eyelashes in the world in my opinion and they need all the help they can get. The price of this product is quite reasonable and packaging is funky with an eloquent twist. On first impression ticks all the boxes so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

Last but not least of my products was something that baffled me at first whole looking at the product to find out what I is I was getting all confused as the main writing in French but on closer in special I found it was voulez- vous warmin body oil in margarita scent. I can only presume this was put in the box to make valentines day in the Valentine theme box but The idea of smearing my body in an oil that smells of margarita doesn't exactly float my boat but again ill give it a go. Looking at the flavours/ scent it comes in I could have got worst..... I think.

I did get a little surprise in my box of a heart shape lolly pop it was cute but does not make up for this pants box.

Overall this box is a disappointment especially as not only has a perfume sample been put in but they have also included a cheap none luxury product in a box that promotes and prides its self on bring samples of luxury products. I'm not sure where they were coming from in this box.

Just an added note I am loving the news letter that comes instead of the product card. I love the make up tips, I love how they bring the product in the box together to help the owner of the box use them and
I love I has discounts a girls best friend. I hope they carry on with this.

I do look forward to giving the products ago let's see if any surprise me or even become part my go to products. I'm not sure what our plans for valentines day are but I may just use them all For the occasion weather I'm staying I or going out I surprise that's all part of the fun. He he he.

I love my life, even if you don't.

Recently I had a "conversation" with someone regarding my relationship with my husband and my parenting skills. They were under the impression that I am an over protective mother who sits at home staring at a wall with my husband by my side who does the same..... Now they didn't actually say this, I got the impression that this was there opinion of me and my life in a nutshell.

Yes I don't let my son say out, no me and my husband don't go out a lot, no we don't really drink at home and yes our life does revolve round our little man. My response..........

So what!!!!

Childish response I know but I don't see how people can judge mine and my families life. Were happy, all of us and if I'm honest I love my life and feel very lucky to have such an amazing little family who make me smile.

Lets address some of the "issue" I ment to have.

I don't let my son stay out.
He 2 years old why does he need to stay out??? the only place he would end up is at nanna daydreams where he goes back to sleep in his bed there at 5.30am after daddy peacock has dropped him off on the way to work most week days. So if idid let him stay out wouldn't it have the same result as To what i do now???

Most of my friends and family who have children don't have there children stay out until there at least in school mainly for the same reason as me they just end up at there grandparents. If this was going to cause some social problem in there school live were they cant stay out I'm sure staying at there grandparents a few times will not make a difference of them liking staying out at a strange house or being home sick. Im unsure how this makes me an over protective mother???

When my little dude was born he had suspected meningitis and spent the first 16 days of his life in hospital, we nearly lost him but he fought to be here. This may make me a bit more neurotic than most but who's to say if i had a healthy birth with him i wouldn't still be the same???
The truth is I like having him home, I love being woken up by him shouting mummy in the morning and when he first sees me he says in his sweetest morning voice morning mummy. These are times I want to treasure because he will be grown up before I know it. Staying out at friends houses and not wanting to know me so I'm making the most of this time with him. I chose to have him so why would I want to palm him off on someone else. We're both working parents so cherish the time we have with our little dude and its obvious when he realises he has us for a whole day and he not going to nanna and grandads he get excited. To me this equals a happy family.

Me and my husband don't got out a lot.
Me and my amazing husband have been together since we were 18. We are collage sweethearts and always say we kind of grew up together. We did the partying all night thing were your so drunk it takes days to sober up again. We've had amazing romantic couples holidays and weekend breaks. We've also had lots of date nights in between. We had 8 fantastic years of it just being the 2 of us. When we because parents we have been married for over a year and ready to become the 3 of us and put our social life in storage for a few years. Children are not children forever and as I keep saying we chose to have a family and knew we would sacrifice some of the things we loved to do but for a worthy cause.

All that said we don't just sit and stare at our little treasure we make the most of our time together. He love each others company. When our little dude in bed we play games, have romantic home cooked meals or snuggle watching a film together.
I'm lucky to have found my soul mate and were happy in our own skin and in our relationship. Why do we need to go out all the time to proof it. We do have the occasional date night out and we do make the most of it. Nanna daydream comes over to our house to babysit. I still put baby peacocks to bed but that's because I love story time with him again a time I treasure.

As well as finding time for each other we love spending time with our little dude taking him to places we love or trying somewhere new for all of us. An added bonus to being parents is going to places designed for kids that we couldn't go to before we had little dude because we just looked sad ha ha ha.

As for drinking we've not been big drinkers since we were younger. Daddy peacock loves to drive everywhere and I don't like drinking alone. Neither of us need a drink to have a good time. We still have the ability to make each other laugh that good enough for me.

Over all I'm not worried about my "pathetic" life, Neither should others. We are happy the way we are and were not in any rush to change. Our little boy and any other children we may be blessed to have
Will only be children for so long before there out with friends and not wanting to hang out with us. We're making this time count with them, there's no turning back the clock we only have now. When our children do grow up thats when we can have our time again like nanna daydream and grandad grumps. They spent years being parents and working hard. Now there enjoying being grandparents and going on lots of holidays. What great role models.

Im proud to be a wife, I'm even prouder to be a mummy and I'm lucky to have an amazing husband who I have a brilliant marriage with and were lucky to have such a clever, smart, happy and content little boy. What more could a women want. I love them both with all my heart and I know they both love me too. So what of our lives revolve round each others we not harming anyone were just being a family.

#missionyummumummy : first week back to basic results

Last night was my first weigh in since going back to basic. I was confident that I would have a Loss since I followed the plan to the letter. I weighed all foods that needed to be weight and didn't guess, I rechecked all my synned food before eating it and not presuming I already know the value I even over filled my plate with super free food just to make sure I don't under cut the 1/3 plate rule. I even went down the geeky route and as well as writing everything down I also highlighted the different elements of the plan to make it easier to see if I have balance between everything right.

In a nutshell I have had a great week diet wise and it hasn't been a struggle or felt out of normal which is always a plus since my plan is to make this the way my daily diet will be for life. I've not been face d with any major obstacles apart from lunch with a friend last week which was soon over come. I also treated myself to a new lunch bag for work so I have no excuse not to take my lunch with me.

The main thing that is lacking and is alway lacking its exercise I really have trouble fitting it in my day, that needs to change and quick. Last summer I started going for walks in the evening to help. This year I will definitely be taking that up again. I just need to add something now. I have a wii fit, I have a collection of fitness DVD and I even have things recorded from the fitness channel so I don't really have an excuse apart from time which I need to make to do it. That will definitely have to be the next thing I will concentrate on.

After this fab week my lost is.......1.5lb

This might not seem like a lot to some but I am over the moon with this. I didn't got to weigh in last week and I know would have had a gain so it means I have pulled back any damage I did and some. I'm hoping for a great lost next week.

After weigh in last night I got home and my husband had ordered dominoes as a weigh in night treat. Instead of being good and declining I had a few slices so today trying success express to pull back the damage. It's also my husbands birthday on Tuesday and we have a lovely day of fun planned. I'm having it as a flexi syn day To keep me on track but ill do success express on Wednesday to again override any damage. This will all help keep my in control and keep me focused otherwise I know I will just go overboard that how I got to the way I am in the first place. That all going to change.

Here's to another great week.
